Join us for a free catered lunch on March 25, 2024, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, hosted by the newly established Parenting for Racial Equity project, open to all members of the Pittsburgh community.

This effort is a new collaboration between the Parenting While Black program and the Racial Equity Consciousness Institute at Pitt.

At the luncheon, we will explore what it means to parent for racial justice in white families and communities of color. The Lunch-and-Share will provide a space to share experiences and insights of what is needed and effective in conveying messages to children about racial identity, power, and whiteness across races, families, and generations. This event will inform a pilot program aimed at equipping white parents with perspectives and tools to support antiracist journeys in their families and beyond.

The luncheon will be hosted at the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning (Room 2017). Please register in advance so we can meet all dietary preferences/restrictions!

For any questions regarding the event or if you/the community organization you represent would like to host future PREP pilot workshops, please email Sommer Blair sommer.blair@pitt.edu.
