Applying for Graduation

Graduation is not an automatic process – all students who are eligible for graduation must submit an application to graduate.

Complete the April 2023 (2234) graduation application by logging into and follow these instructions  If you have any questions about this application, please reach out to the Registrar's Office -

  • Log in to the PeopleSoft/HighPointCX Dashboard through the myPitt task.
  • Select the PeopleSoft Full Site Link on the Dashboard.
  • Click the Navigator (NavBar) Icon in the upper right hand corner of the page. 
  • Select Self Service, navigate to Degree Progress/Graduation, and then select the Apply for Graduation link.
  • Review the majors, minors, or certificates listed under the program(s) you are eligible to apply for:

Helpful Hints:

  • You should only be submitting an application if you will be completing ALL of your graduation requirements by the conclusion of the Spring 2023 semester.
  • If for some reason you are unable to graduate in the term for which you applied, you must reapply to graduate in a future term. Students are not automatically rolled over onto future graduation rosters. Late fees may apply.    
  • If you are graduating from the BASW program, please complete the University senior survey by Friday, February 3rd
  • MSW students only: Your MSW Curriculum Guide, which is to be reviewed with your academic advisor prior to submission, must be emailed to
  • When saving this form, please name the file:
    • Last Name-First Name-Grad Date-Guide DP or COSA
    • Ex: Rogers-Fred-Apr23-Guide DP or Rogers-Fred-Apr23-Guide COSA
  • Your name on your graduation application must be identical to the way it appears in PeopleSoft. You will be required to provide legal documentation to change your name. Acceptable forms of documentation are:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Marriage Certificate
    • Divorce Decree
    • Formal Court Order
  • Please note that if you are a joint degree student; you must also submit an online application to the other degree-granting program (i.e. Law School, GSPH, etc.).
RSVP for the April 2023 School of Social Work Afternoon of Recognition

The School of Social Work will be hosting an afternoon of recognition for all students who graduated or plan to graduate in December 2022, June 2023, and August 2023 on April 30, 2023 at 5pm at Solider and Sailors Memorial Hall.

April 2023 Graduation Timeline

October 1, 2022          First date to submit applications for April and May 2023 graduation.

December 1, 2022      Applications submitted now must include a $25.00 late fee.


April 29, 2023              Official date for degrees awarded for April 2023 graduation.

June 1, 2023                Transcripts with April 2023 degrees posted available in the Transcript Office, G-3 Thackeray Hall.

June 19-23, 2023        Begin mailing diplomas for the April 2023 graduates.

Diplomas, Transcripts, and Enrollment Verifications


  • You must be in good financial standing with the University to receive your diploma.
  • To ensure your diploma is routed to the correct address, you can update your Graduation Address through PeopleSoft up to one month prior to the end of your graduation term/session. 
  • Diplomas will be mailed out at no charge approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of your term of graduation.
  • Allow 30 days from the advertised ship date to consider the diploma lost for domestic mail, 90 days for international delivery.

  • All discrepancies should be brought to the attention of the Office of the University Registrar immediately.

Transcripts and Enrollment Verifications

Education Verification

  • If you are applying for social work licensure (LSW, LMSW) prior to graduation you will need to have an Education Verification form completed by the School of Social Work Academic Registration and Records Manager. Please contact Susanna Cammarata at with the applicant portion of your form completed.
  • If you have obtained employment prior to graduation and your employer is requesting education verification, please reach out of the SSW Academic Registration and Records Manager, Susanna Cammarata at
    • You will need to provide:
      • Your employers HR contact information – name, title, address, & email.
      • Any specific additional information your new employer is requesting.
      • Your tentative start date.
    • Once your final semester grades are posted and your graduation status has been certified, we will provide:
      • A formal letter written on official letterhead indicating you have met departmental requirements, your degree(s) earned, the official date for your degree confirmation, and the date official transcripts with degrees awarded will be available, signed by a Dean of the School of Social Work.
