Melina Waldo, an MSW alum and a former national, regional and local official for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), passed away on October 6, 2014. Ms Waldo served as a PFLAG national board member from 1997-2001, director in the 2000s of the region that covered New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Chapter Vice President from 2002-2004. "She had a way of communicating to parents, to political figures," said Frances Kirschner, past president of the PFLAG Philadelphia chapter.
