Staff profile: Shana Stein

Shana Stein is one of those people who often flies under the radar at the School of Social Work (SSW). Over the last 5 years that she has been in the SSW, Shana’s role has grown tremendously. Initially she was hired to serve as an assistant, taking care of many important details for folks throughout the school while also working part-time with Continuing Education. However, over the years, her advanced skillset became apparent which has led to her taking the lead on more advanced projects, a promotion and title change, and she has also earned her MBA from Pitt in her free time. In her current role as Professional and Continuing Education Coordinator, she now works entirely with the Professional Education Department on CE initiatives, along with acting as project coordinator for various special grant-funded projects that department manages. She continues to be extremely detail-oriented and manages most of the logistics for the CE training program, as well as our community co-sponsorship program, and is a main reason the school's professional development trainings are produced without a hitch every week.

"Our work together to create the CE On Demand Training Program has established a new stream of revenue for the SSW which has currently generated around $50,000" shares Director of Professional Education Molly Allwein. "Shana’s extensive knowledge of CE programming has been a main driver to increase efficiency in our processes and procedures, and the SSW Professional Education Department would not be what it is today if it were not for her hard work over the last 5 years."
