Doctoral students awarded scholarship

PhD student Thomas Ylioja was awarded the 2017 Center for Health Equity Master’s & Doctoral Student Scholarship Award for his dissertation proposal entitled “Access, engagement, and tobacco treatment by telephone quitlines among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults”. The Center for Health Equity (CHE) in the Graduate School of Public Health offers funding opportunities for those working to address health disparities and health inequity. Projects of interest include those focused on improving the health of those who face social or economic obstacles to health due to their race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, mental health, cognitive, sensory, or physical disability, sexual orientation, geography, or other characteristics linked to discrimination or health inequity. This award will support the purchase materials for research, as well as data entry and analysis, as Thomas completes his dissertation.
