Alumnus honored with national award

MSW/COSA alumnus, adjunct faculty member, and member of the Dean’s Executive Council, David Coplan, MSW-MPA, will receive the Human Services Management Exemplar Award at the Network of Social Work Management annual conference (June 15, 2017) in New York City.  “This is a wonderful recognition of a very deserving human service leader (and my former intern) whose leadership of the Human Services Center Corp., Mon Valley Providers Council, and Advancing Academics is truly exemplary and demonstrates that he practices what he preaches to our students as an adjunct faculty member,” said COSA Director Tracy Soska.” Dave has truly become one of the regional leaders of the human service/nonprofit sector, and now he is finally receiving national recognition for his work.” Coplan has also been invited to the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) strategic retreat in Santa Monica in July 2017. He is one of only five nonprofit executives in the country to be invited to assist in planning on how to best support the nonprofit sector.  GEO represents over 500 grantmakers internationally.
