Shannon R. Power, PhD, LCSW is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. She earned her BSW, MSW, and PhD from the University of Georgia. Eradicating health disparities is at the heart of her research into dementia care navigation, focusing on barriers in rural and medically under-served communities. Drawing on her experience as a licensed clinical social worker (in palliative care, oncology, and private practice), Dr. Power explores digital innovations to strengthen care management systems. Her goal is to build interventions addressing upstream social and structural drivers that affect timely dementia diagnosis and access to treatment.

 

Dr. Shannon Power values interdisciplinary collaboration and is an OSCAR Scholar at the Pitt Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. She is an active member of the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work (AGESW) and is committed to an academic career rooted in action-oriented teaching and community-engaged research.
