Laura Borish
- CWEB/CWEL Agency Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor
Laura Borish, MSW, LSW is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Agency Coordinator for the Child Welfare Education and Research Programs at the School of Social Work. In her role as Agency Coordinator, she serves as the liaison between all 67 counties in Pennsylvania and the students they have participating in the state’s CWEB and CWEL child welfare education programs. Borish is a CWEL graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and holds a BA in Psychology from West Virginia University. She teaches Social Welfare Policy, Child and Family Policy, and the 2nd level HBSE course Children and Families at Risk. She has been actively involved in a grant project with the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute’s Workforce Excellence Project and Allegheny County CYF. Her past work has been with the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center where she supported Organizational Effectiveness efforts across Pennsylvania and assisted individual county child welfare agencies in making changes to improve services for children, youth, and families. Borish began her child welfare career as a Caseworker and Supervisor in a county agency providing direct services in permanency, adoption, kinship care, and foster care programs.
