Students join strike

Students for Solidarity and Pitt students joined striking Starbucks workers and allies on the picket line during their ongoing strike campaign. Starbucks Workers United (SBWU) workers are on strike to protest Starbuck’s unfair labor practices, a lack of progress in contract negotiations, including higher pay, more consistent hours, and an end to understaffing. Although these students were not Starbucks employees, they stood in solidarity by picketing, leafleting, and spreading awareness about worker rights and the ongoing Starbucks strike. Students for Solidarity is an unaffiliated student-led group creating more opportunities for students to engage in macro-level issues. Their participation reflects their belief that social work values extend beyond the classroom and into real-world movements for justice and equity. Stay connected and follow Students for Solidarity on Instagram
