In July, Dr. Deborah Moon, along with doctoral students Christina Bomnae Babusci and Hyunjin (Jenn) Lee, engaged in meaningful scholarly exchanges with faculty and students at the School of Social Welfare, Ewha Womans University, in South Korea. As part of Ewha’s BK21 FOUR Initiative—funded by the Korean government to strengthen global research and educational partnerships—Dr. Moon delivered a lecture titled “An Introduction to Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.” Christina and Jenn co-organized and led interactive student meetings, sharing their global research on serious mental illness (SMI) populations in the U.S. and Korea. Additionally, the students explored the comparative roles of social workers in mental health in both countries and sparked discussions on future collaborative opportunities between Ewha and the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. Appreciation is extended to Drs. Chungrae Nho, Jongseol Chun, and Jisun Lee for their warm welcome and to the students at EWHA who enriched the entire experience through their thoughtful engagement and insights.
