Dr. Alexus Brown Attends VIP Event Honoring Dr. Joy DeGruy

On Friday, September 19th, Dr. Alexus Brown, Senior Social Scientist at CRSP, attended an exclusive VIP event honoring Dr. Joy DeGruy, renowned author and activist, at the Gallery on the Square. Invited by Dr. Sharnay Hearns-Davis, member of the BWEI and founder of Sisters Lifting As We Climb, Dr. Brown joined several community leaders and researchers, including Chad Dion Lassiter (Executive Director of the PA Human Relations Commission) for an evening of conversation, connection and celebration of Dr. DeGruy’s impactful work.

Dr. DeGruy is a nationally and internationally renowned researcher and educator whose research focuses on the intersection of racism, trauma, violence and American chattel slavery. She has over thirty years of practical experience as a professional in the field of social work.
