The U.S. Census Bureau has proposed new rules for the 2030 Census. The rules would change who is counted for apportionment, how people's residence is decided, and which demographic questions the census asks. The public comment period closes November 2, 2026, at 11:59 pm ET.
Bob Gradeck, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the University of Pittsburgh's University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR), is hosting a series of information and comment-writing sessions. Each session opens with a 30-minute overview of the proposed changes, and the rest of the time is for drafting your own comment.
