Alumnus doing research in Ghana

Doctoral alumnus Daniel Jacobson López, PhD, MSW, LCSW has been working with his Yale mentor, Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing, Dr. LaRon Nelson on his work with Ghanaian MSM. He participated summer 2022 in the PRISM (Promoting Reductions in Intersectional Stigma) in Ghana. Ghanaian MSM encounter stigma due to their same-sex behavior, gender non-conformity and perceived HIV status. PRISM is RCT is focused on the implementation of a multi-level intervention to address HIV disparity rates among these men.

Dr. Lopez served as a consultant in this study with Dr. Nelson and other health care providers in Ghana to help achieve optimal mental health and health care outcomes for these men.
