RISE-MH is housed in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work, which was the site of one of the first NIMH-funded Centers for Mental Health Services Research, and carries forward the School’s longstanding commitment to this work.
RISE-MH evolved directly from the Center on Interventions to Enhance Community Health (CiTECH), a collaboration between the School of Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry initiated in 2018.
Expansive interest in mental health services research led to the establishment of RISE-MH, and its interdisciplinary, community-facing structure. RISE-MH aims to support rigorous research addressing real world complexities and fully involving community partners, including individuals with lived experience, providers, payers, and policy makers, to create knowledge that will push the envelope to create more equitable, accessible, effective, and relevant services and systems.
