Dr. Daniel, who passed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, was born on July 15, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Louise and Jerry Daniel and grew up in Rentz and Dublin, Georgia. He graduated from Middle Georgia College with his Associate of Science in Criminal Justice, Mercer University with his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Fort Valley State University with his Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, Clark Atlanta University with his Master of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh with his Master of Public Health and his Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work, and University of Georgia Law School with his Juris Doctor degree.
Dr. Daniel’s passion for social work led him to Albany State University, where he inspired his students to “research the literature” and aim for excellence in all they aspire to accomplish. In addition to holding the position of MSW Program Director at Albany State University, as a licensed clinical social worker, he started First Choice Behavioral Health over 10 years ago to embrace healthy individuals, families and communities.
