Doctoral Student Selected for International Science Communication Training Program

Doctoral student Valerie Hruschak was selected as one of 12 trainees worldwide by the International Association Study on Pain (IASP) to be a Pain Research Forum (PRF) Correspondent at the 17th World Congress on Pain. The purpose of the program is to provide early-career pain investigators with the knowledge and skills they need to communicate science effectively to a wide range of pain researchers, patients, and the broader public. Through this work Hruschak has recently published two science communication articles: (1)   An interview with Dr. Fiona Blyth from Australia on: A Population Perspective on Chronic Pain; published in Pain Research Forum. (2)   A review of the plenary talk given by Dr. Christine Chamber from Canada on Knowledge Translation: Ensuring That Pain Research Makes a Difference; published in Relief News. Hruschak shared that she thoroughly enjoyed working with PRF Executive Editor in addition to the other trainees, while also having the opportunity to interview some of the field’s most renown investigators.  She strongly encourages other trainees interested in pain research to apply to the program and looks forward to continuing her development in science communication.
