BASW student leads healthcare workshop

BASW student Brandon Thomas has had great success been presenting his workshop "Quick to Judge: Removing the Stigma" which aims to help healthcare providers identify stigma and biases held towards those who have mental health and substance and alcohol abuse disorders. Brandon presented the workshop last year at the 2018 Annual PAUSWE / NASW-PA Conference. Locally, he has presented it at St Margaret's School of Nursing (UPMC), UPMC Mercy Nurse Residency Program, Mon Yough Community Services, UPMC Shadyside Nurse Residency Program, and the UPMC McKeesport Nurse Residency Program. Brandon currently works at UPMC McKeesport in medically managed detoxification and rehabilitation in patient unit.
