Message from Dean Betsy Farmer May 15, 2020

The university is working to develop comprehensive, flexible plans for the fall semester for a variety of possible scenarios. Faculty members, students, public health experts and staff members across schools and departments are being engaged in that process, which is moving forward quickly.

As Chancellor Gallagher mentioned in his recent message, the University will share guidance with students by early July so they can make plans for the fall. In the School of Social Work, we are planning and strategizing, so that we are ready to provide the level and type of education that students deserve, no matter how it is delivered.

I was incredibly impressed with how everyone pulled together to transform from in-person to remote instruction in the course of a week after spring break. With that experience under our belt, a range of expertise and approaches to various teaching/learning modalities, and a full summer to make sure that we have everything in place to support both faculty and students, I am looking forward to a fall semester that provides opportunities for the engaging, interactive, and stimulating learning that we always provide.

In the meantime, please visit the COVID-19 response and planning website for the latest  University updates and our website or social media platforms for the latest School of Social Work announcements and resources available to assist you.

We are looking forward to the fall!

 Take care and stay safe,

Betsy Farmer, Dean
