Present and Represented: Latinx Mental Health Research, Practice, and Experience in Pittsburgh with host Social Work PhD student Ana Flores
The Latinx Mental Health Podcast increases dialogue and representation about mental health in the Latinx community through podcast episodes and engagement on social media platforms. The hosts of the podcast will join Pitt’s Hispanic Heritage Month and in this Town Hall lead a conversation about Latinx mental health in Pittsburgh. Panelists include Dr. Patricia Documet who studies Latinx health with an emphasis on social network and participatory theories, Daniel García Zubieta, a social worker and therapist with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, and Dr. Diego Chaves-Gnecco, a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and community leader in Latinx health in Pittsburgh.
The conversation will center Latinx-identifying researchers and practitioners in the mental health field, how this role is important in Latinx representation, and the implications on their own mental health. Further, discussion will lead into the rapidly growing Latinx community in Pittsburgh, broad mental health needs, and the work and resources needed to move forward.
