Engaging community members in action-oriented dialogue: using community-based participatory research for community engagement and organizing (research of equity and power)

October 5, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Engaging community members in action-oriented dialogue: using community-based participatory research for community engagement and organizing (research of equity and power), Tuesday, October 5th from 12pm-1pm at the Homewood CEC.

Facilitated by Dr. Mary Ohmer and Research for Equity and Power Advisory Board.

In order for community organizing to be truly effective at creating lasting change, there are two essential components that must be part of the foundation: inclusion and connection. These are the concepts that will be explored in the proposed educational workshop. Using Research for Equity and Power as a case study in university-community collaboration, this workshop will explore practical approaches to: inclusion, engagement, interest identification, and action plan creation. The workshop will also include a mock-dialogue with the participants to model the community engagement process.
