Short Description: The Beyond the Blues: Depression in African Americans is a 2-hour training designed to examine and dispel the myths and stigmas that have historically become barriers to the African American community seeking mental health treatment, bring awareness to thesigns, symptoms, risk and protective factors of depression, identify the connection between racial based traumatic experiences and depression in African Americans, and explore the cultural adaptations of evidenced based mental health treatments.


CE Hour: 5.0

Short Description:This training will include presentation of the topics as well as group analysis and discussion of case studies. The impact of race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status will be woven into the training to help providers bring greater depth to the treatment they provide. This training can be used toward the CE hours required to attain a Childbearing Years: Working with Women and Families during the Perinatal Period non-degree certificate. 15 hours of total training must be completed to attain a certificate.

 

CE Hours: 3.0

Short Description:This training will discuss implicit bias, and the differences between equality and equity, what do equitable practices look like. Participants will learn to talk about race constructively within their workplace and with colleagues’ organizations and with their constituents. Gain opportunities and next steps for applying concepts and strategies to advance racial equity.

CE Hours:6.0

Short Description: This training gives you the opportunity to explore your own embodiment and experiences of ‘being a body’ in your clinical practice. We will examine the co-created and mutual impact of our and our clients’ embodiment, and the unfolding energetic exchange that emerges in session. Time will be spent exploring the impact of trauma on the body and how to integrate a somatic approach into clinical practice. This will be an experiential workshop with some lecture, large and small group exercises, and opportunities to become a more embodied practitioner.
