Training Description

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many clients are reporting anxiety, uncertainty and difficulty with maintaining a regular sleep schedule. In this CE training, helping professionals will learn how to assist clients with creating individualized guided imagery to help them get to sleep, remain asleep, and sleep better overall. This training includes information about the scientific functions of the brain and the impact/effect of sleep on the brain and the body. This training also includes a guided example of a practitioner working with a client to develop this imagery and discusses the elements of creating individualized imagery.

  • The importance of healthy sleep and impacts of disrupted sleep or sleep deprivation
  • The essential elements needed to create an individualized imagery
  • The scientific functions of the brain and the effect of sleep on the brain
  • The effects of senses on imagery

Presenter

Tory Butterworth, PhD, LPC is a licensed professional counselor who specializes in treating emotional eaters . She received her PhD in psychology from the University of Michigan . Butterworth has created the STOP Eating Your Feelings treatment model, which identifies four different developmental patterns underlying binge eating disorder .
