About
School of Social Work Doctoral Program: Celebrating 60 Years
In 1949, the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work proudly awarded its first two Doctorate in Social Work degrees to Dr. Merrill Conover and Dr. Ruth Smalley. As a graduate of one of the first doctoral programs in the U.S., you share a connection with over 300 fellow alumni(ae) who have become leaders in social work research, education, administration, and planning. We are pleased to announce the upcoming celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Doctoral Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. Our school continues to educate some of the best and brightest scholars, committed to empowering people, leading organizations and growing communities.
During this year-long celebration, we want to showcase the work of Doctoral Program alumni(ae). This showcase was kicked-off with the 2008-09 School of Social Work Lecture Series conducted by doctoral alumni(ae) and culminating with a weekend Anniversary Reunion in October 16-17, 2009.
Please explore the 60th Anniversarywebsite for information on the reunion, history of the program and its esteemed faculty and alumni(ae) and much more!
