Black Administrators, Researchers, and Scholars (BARS)

About BARS

The Black Administrators, Researchers, and Scholars (BARS) Group, a group of Black social work educators, deans and colleagues, was founded in 2014 in an effort to strengthen and augment black achievement in social work education.

The group meets annually to review:

  • the state of Black administrators, researchers, and scholars in social work academia
  • the state of social, political, and economic issues most pressing to African American scholars and administrators.
  • Discuss academic gamesmanship, i.e. publications, grants, promotions, tenure, deanships and transitions to higher administrative positions in the academy.
