Biography

Lisa Schelbe received her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.

Her diverse practice experience includes work with survivors of intimate partner violence and of natural disasters, as well as program development, grant writing, and political advocacy. Currently, Schelbe is involved in research projects with adolescents. The study of multidimensional characteristics of incarcerated youth explores the attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors of youth in a residential facility. A second project, a qualitative study, focuses on the experiences of youth who are aging out of foster care. Schelbe’s involvement in these studies reflects her research interest in adolescents and social problems. Schelbe’s specific research interests includes the etiology of adolescents who abstain from antisocial and delinquent behaviors and the policy implications for prevention and intervention of adolescents’ antisocial and delinquent behaviors. An additional research interest is youth who are transitioning out of the foster care system.
