Biography
Doctoral candidate Monique Constance-Huggins earned an MA in public and international affairs from Pitt and a BA in entrepreneurial management from Royal Roads University in Victoria, Canada.
After completing her master’s degree, she worked for six years at Pitt’s University Center for Social and Urban Research as a research assistant. Among the research projects she conducted there were studies of diversity among elected officials, minority contracting with the City of Pittsburgh, and diversity in and among nonprofit boards in Allegheny County, Pa. She is working on a study that looks at minority businesses contracting with local governments in Boston and Chicago. Constance-Huggins’ primary research interests are poverty and racial economic disparities.
