SSW Alumnus named new NASW President

SSW Alumnus Darrell P. Wheeler, PhD, MPH, ACSW (Illinois Chapter), is Dean & Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work. Previous academic positions held were at Hunter College, Columbia University, and the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. Dr. Wheeler earned his MSW from Howard University and his PhD and MPH from the University of Pittsburgh. Since joining NASW in 1986, he has been active at both the chapter and national levels. He has held positions as National Board Vice President, National Board Region II Representative; NASW NYC Chapter Board Member, Chair of the National Health Section Committee, Member of the National Finance Committee, and Co-chair of the National Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues. In addition to his NASW membership, he is a member of the Council on Social Work Education, the American Public Health Association, the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration, and the New York Academy of Medicine.
