MSW Alumna Alva Barnett, Passes Away at 67

MSW Alumna Alva Barnett, a Jacksonville native who earned six degrees, co-authored four books and taught for 22 years at the University of Nebraska, passed away this month at the age of 67. “She loved dealing with underprivileged people from Third World countries,” said her brother, Maurice Barnett Jr. of Margate, Fla. “She was very good at trying to psychoanalyze people, and she was always very giving of herself.”  Read more about her life and accomplishments in the Florida Times-Union.
