Congratulations to the 2012 Community Practice Awardees

Civil Action Movement (CAM) - CAM is receiving a student group recognition award for its advocacy work on budget cuts and social and economic justice issues, including their “Last Lunch” Budget Cut Forum held at the School. Rebecca “Reba” Landry - Reba was nominated and selected for her work in establishing the Students for Disability Advocacy student organization on campus to address issues of disability access and resources for students with disabilities, as well as for her leadership in coordinating Pitt’s Student Affairs Martin Luther King week annual Social Justice Symposium, which focused on awareness and inclusion for those with disabilities. Mark Plassmeyer and Gale Schwartz – Mark and Gale were nominated by Peoples Oakland in recognition for their advocacy and lobbying work on behalf of mental health funding and the state budget cuts to mental health that will impact Peoples Oakland members.
