Capitol Hill Briefing to Focus on the Child Welfare Workforce

Helen Cahalane, Principal Investigator for the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work Child Welfare Education and Research Programs, will testify Tuesday, June 28th at the “Let’s Improve Child Welfare Outcomes: The Workforce Matters” briefing on Capitol Hill. This briefing will continue on-going efforts to educate key policymakers in Washington and on Capitol Hill about the importance of a well-trained, educated and staffed workforce within child welfare.  Providing a continuum of child welfare services that will improve child well-being and positive child outcomes is dependent on a child welfare workforce that can provide key services from prevention, to child protection through permanent families.  The Administration as well as others have suggested strategies to strengthen the workforce and this briefing will highlight some of these strategies.
