Alumni Profile: Thaddeus Osuagwu

Thaddeus Osuagwu is an Alumnus of University of Pittsburgh, School of Social Work. He graduated from Pitt in April 2012. His services to underserved communities have enriched many minority individuals and families. He has participated in city council meetings in underserved communities, delivering speeches on barriers to mental health access and their impacts to underserved communities. Thaddeus is the founder and President of Pathway Human Services, LLC., a mental health clinic in Braddock, PA that specializes in therapeutic and holistic mental health treatment services to  children, adults, families, and communities. Pathway Human Services also provides a “Group Life Community Sharing” in the Braddock Community, a first of its kind in the United States, modeled after African and Native American council meetings where communities come together on a monthly basis to share their current stressors, receive counseling from the elders of the community, and provide support to one another. Beginning on July 16, 2018, for approximately six weeks, Pathway Human Services will start a new therapeutic group entitled: “Coping and Healing from Grief and Loss.”  This group is recommended for anyone who is learning to cope with the loss of a loved one. The agency will also commence therapeutic group supports to victims of abuse and individuals living with trauma. These therapeutic group activities are opened to anyone willing to attend. Thaddeus served as an Adjunct Faculty at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA.  He has acquired professional expertise working with children, adults, and families living with Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, PTSD, Grief, and ADHD. Thaddeus has worked in many aspects of mental health treatments utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in his practice along with Client-Centered module and Motivational Interviewing as an approach to treatment. He envisions a module that inculcates a holistic treatment approach where individuals and families can freely explore the powers of spirituality, and an individual’s uniqueness, strengths and pace in their recovery process. Thaddeus enjoys spending time with his family. He likes playing soccer with his wife and their three children.
