Students:
Fall term field work can begin anytime after August 31st for all concentration students, but officially starts September 8th. Field Learning plans are due October 5th for all full-time advanced standing and second year students. End of the term evaluation forms are due December 7th for all MSW students (except for foundation students attending the field seminar in the fall). Students starting foundation placement will begin attending the field seminar the week of August 31st and field work will begin the week of October 19th. BASW student Field Learning Plans and Evaluation due dates are determined by the Practicum Lab Instructor.
Students who wish to begin a new field placement spring 2009 are required to submit a request for field placement form and resume to the Office of Field Education by October 15th. Students who wish to begin a new field placement summer 2009 are required to submit a request for field placement form by March 15th 2010.
Spring term field work begins January 6th for continuing students and the week of April 23rd.

Field Instructors:
Orientation for Field Instructors who will be supervising a student starting fall 2009 will be held September 3rd in the William Pitt Union Ballroom from 9 am- 4 pm.
The Seminar Series in Field Education (main campus) will be held Session One (Section 1) on September 15th and Session One (Section 2) on October 1st , Session Two on October 22nd and Session Three on November 12th. The Seminar Series Overview is also available as an On-Line Training, which is required for all new field instructors who do not possess an MSW degree and cannot attend live trainings. Please call 412-648-5941 or via e-mail at sswfield@pitt.edu to register.
We are continually recruiting experienced MSW's to serve as field instructors and for social, community, health, and human service organization to be developed as field sites.
Please consider offering a stipend to social work students who are completing a field placement at your site. For more information, call John Dalessandro, (412) 624-5969 or email at dalessan@pitt.edu.
