About

Alicia Andrews

“We’re small but mighty,” says Alicia Andrews, associate director of the Human Services Center Corp. (HSCC) in Turtle Creek, Pa. Andrews, who earned a dual master’s degree in 2003 from Pitt's School of Social Work and Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, says her education instilled a strong sense of values as she learned how to make critical policy and funding decisions.

HSCC provides support facilities for a variety of nonprofits that each year serve more than 10,000 people in 37 communities near Pittsburgh. “We’re working to put ourselves out of a job, but the needs persist and are actually growing,” Andrews says. “My training at the School of Social Work gave me the skills I need to serve consumers effectively and help them reach their fullest potential.”
